The Raspberry Pi is a credit-card sized computer that plugs into your TV and a keyboard. It’s a capable little PC which can be used for many of the things that your desktop PC does, like spreadsheets, word-processing and games. It also plays high-definition video.
The kit includes a high quality Raspberry Pi case, as well as the 16GB SD Card pre-loaded with "NOOBS" (New Out Of Box Software). You just need to connect and be up and running immediately!
"NOOBS" is a way to make setting up a Raspberry Pi for the first time much easier. When you boot up for the first time, you'll see a menu prompting you to install one of several operating systems into the free space on the card. Archlinux, OpenELEC, Pidora, RaspBMC, Raspbian and RiscOS are all included.
A Tinysine prototyping shield is also included in the kit, you can stack it on your Raspberry Pi easily, which can snap onto the Pi main board assembly (and is removable later if you wish) and gives you all sorts of prototyping goodness to make building on top of the Pi super easy.
The kit also includes a 1A / 5V USB power supply for Raspberry Pi.
